Editorial Board Appointment Policy

Editorial Board Appointment Policy

The Journal of Agricultural Policy and Transformation (AgriPaT) appoints its editors through a rigorous and transparent selection process designed to uphold the highest standards of scholarly integrity, disciplinary expertise, and alignment with the journal’s mission. The following criteria and procedures guide the appointment of editors:

  1. Academic Credentials and Scholarly Standing: Candidates must possess recognized academic qualifications (typically a Ph.D. or equivalent) and demonstrate an established publication record in fields relevant to the journal’s scope. They should be acknowledged by their peers for their expertise, editorial experience, and leadership in scientific research.
  1. Relevant Disciplinary Expertise: The editorial board is composed to reflect the thematic breadth and methodological diversity of AgriPaT. This ensures that manuscripts are evaluated by editors with a deep understanding of the subject matter, experimental design, and emerging trends in plant sciences and related disciplines.
  1. Commitment to Editorial Responsibilities: Editors are expected to manage submitted manuscripts in a timely, fair, and ethical manner, ensuring the integrity of the peer-review process. They are responsible for upholding the journal’s standards regarding originality, research quality, conflict of interest disclosure, and reproducibility. Additionally, editors contribute to the journal’s development through strategic initiatives such as special issues, outreach, and author mentorship.
  1. Diversity and Inclusivity: In line with our commitment to promoting global scholarship, AgriPaT strives to maintain an editorial board that reflects diversity across geographic regions, gender identities, career stages, and institutional affiliations. This diversity enriches editorial perspectives, enhances the journal’s global impact, and ensures fair representation of international research contributions.
  1. Professional Integrity and Collegial Collaboration: All editors are required to adhere to the highest ethical standards, following guidelines established by COPE. Editors must declare any conflicts of interest, maintain confidentiality throughout the peer-review process, and foster constructive collaboration with authors, reviewers, and fellow editors to advance scholarly communication.
  2. Appointment Process: Potential candidates may be identified through nominations by current editors, recommendations from the research community, or self-nomination.
Applicants are required to submit a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, and a brief statement of interest.
The Editor-in-Chief along with Managing Editor and Editor in consultancy with senior editorial leadership evaluate each candidate’s credentials, expertise, and commitment to editorial service.
Appointments are made formally, with clear terms of service and responsibilities (typically four to ten years, renewable upon mutual agreement). The editorial board composition is publicly available on the journal’s website and reviewed periodically. Editors may be rotated, invited to step down, or replaced based on performance, changes in the journal’s focus, or upon completion of their term.
  1. Review and Renewal: The Editor-in-Chief along with Managing Editor and Editor in consultancy with senior editorial leadership, periodically reviews the composition and performance of the editorial board to ensure continued alignment with the journal’s goals. New editors may be invited at any time to fill gaps in expertise or strengthen the journal’s engagement with emerging research areas.
