Author Guidelines
Journal of Integrated Sciences and Agriculture (JISA)
The Journal of Integrated Sciences and Agriculture (JISA) welcome high-quality original contributions that advance scientific knowledge across agricultural, environmental, biological, engineering, computational, social, health, and interdisciplinary sciences. Authors are encouraged to submit research that demonstrates scientific rigor, methodological innovation, interdisciplinary relevance, and practical significance for sustainable development and integrated systems research.
Manuscript Categories
JISA publishes the following categories of scholarly contributions:
Original Research Articles
Comprehensive studies presenting original findings, robust methodologies, and significant scientific contributions.
Recommended Length: 3,500–8,000 words
Review Articles
Critical, systematic, and analytical syntheses of existing literature that identify knowledge gaps, emerging trends, and future research directions.
Recommended Length: Up to 10,000 words
Short Communications
Concise reports presenting novel findings, innovative methods, preliminary studies, datasets, or technical advances of immediate relevance.
Recommended Length: 1,500–3,000 words
Technical Notes
Short technical or methodological contributions related to engineering systems, analytical tools, computational approaches, laboratory techniques, or field innovations.
Recommended Length: 1,500–3,500 words
Case Studies
Evidence-based analyses of practical experiences, interventions, policies, technological applications, or integrated systems within specific geographical or institutional contexts.
Recommended Length: 2,500–5,000 words
Policy and Perspective Papers (Policy Briefs)
Analytical papers addressing scientific policy, sustainability challenges, governance issues, innovation systems, environmental management, or emerging interdisciplinary debates.
Recommended Length: 2,000–5,000 words
Special Issues
Thematic collections coordinated by Guest Editors focusing on emerging scientific themes, interdisciplinary challenges, or conference-based scholarly collaborations.
Potential Guest Editors may submit a formal proposal outlining the scope, rationale, objectives, and anticipated contributions for consideration by the Editorial Board.
General Formatting Requirements
Authors should ensure that manuscripts are prepared clearly, professionally, and consistently before submission.
File Format
Manuscripts should be submitted in:
- Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx)
Text Formatting
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font Size: 12 pt
- Line Spacing: Double-spaced
- Margins: 1 inch on all sides
- Include continuous line numbering
- Include page numbers throughout the manuscript
Manuscript Structure
Authors must submit the manuscript as two separate files:
1. Title Page File
The Title Page should contain:
- Full manuscript title
- Running title (optional)
- Author names
- Institutional affiliations
- ORCID IDs (if available)
- Corresponding author details
- Email addresses
- Acknowledgments
- Funding information
- Conflict of interest statement
2. Main Manuscript File (Blinded File)
The blinded manuscript must not contain any author-identifying information.
The manuscript should include:
- Title
- Abstract
- Keywords
- Main text
- Tables and figures
- References
- Supplementary information (if applicable)
Manuscript Preparation Guidelines
Abstract
The abstract should:
- Be concise and informative
- Clearly state objectives, methods, key findings, and implications
- Avoid citations and undefined abbreviations
Recommended Length: 200–300 words
Keywords
Provide 5–7 keywords that accurately reflect the manuscript’s content and disciplinary focus.
Recommended Manuscript Sections
The following structure is recommended for research articles:
- Introduction
- Literature Review / Background
- Materials and Methods / Methodology
- Results
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- Policy, Practical, or Scientific Implications
- Acknowledgments (optional)
- References
Authors may adapt section headings where appropriate for interdisciplinary or qualitative research.
References and Citation Style
JISA follows the APA 7th Edition referencing style.
Authors are responsible for ensuring:
- Accuracy and completeness of all references
- Consistency between in-text citations and reference list
- Proper citation of datasets, software, and online materials where applicable
Tables, Figures, and Illustrations
- Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively.
- Each table and figure must include a clear caption.
- All tables and figures must be cited within the text.
- High-resolution images should be submitted separately where applicable.
Figure Requirements
- Minimum resolution: 300 dpi
- Acceptable formats: PNG, TIFF, JPEG, EPS, or high-quality PDF
Units, Symbols, and Scientific Nomenclature
- All measurements must use SI units.
- Scientific names should be italicized where appropriate.
- Abbreviations must be defined at first mention.
- Mathematical equations should be clearly formatted and numbered where necessary.
Ethical Requirements
All submissions must comply with recognized ethical and scientific standards.
Authors must ensure:
- Ethical approval for studies involving humans, animals, or sensitive data
- Informed consent where applicable
- Compliance with biosafety and institutional regulations
- Disclosure of conflicts of interest and funding sources
- Proper permissions for copyrighted material, datasets, images, or reproduced content
JISA screens all submissions for plagiarism using Turnitin or equivalent software.
Peer Review Process
JISA follows a double-blind peer review system.
Editorial Screening
Submitted manuscripts are initially evaluated for:
- Relevance to journal scope
- Originality
- Scientific quality
- Ethical compliance
- Formatting requirements
External Peer Review
Suitable manuscripts are reviewed by at least two independent expert reviewers.
Editorial decisions are based on:
- Scientific merit
- Methodological rigor
- Originality
- Interdisciplinary contribution
- Reviewer recommendations
- Relevance to the aims and scope of JISA
The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board reserve the right to accept, reject, or request revisions.
Submission Process
Manuscripts must be submitted through the JISA online submission system.
Authors are required to:
- Register an author account
- Complete all metadata fields
- Upload all required files
- Confirm compliance with submission requirements
- Include a cover letter explaining the significance and contribution of the study
Submission Preparation Checklist
Before submission, authors should confirm that:
- The manuscript complies with the Author Guidelines
- The submission is original and unpublished
- The manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere
- All references are complete and accurate
- Tables and figures are properly labeled and cited
- Ethical approvals and permissions have been obtained
- All authors have approved the submission
- Conflict of interest and funding statements are included
